Minas Argentinas reported that a collaborator who was due to go up to the deposit on Friday afternoon tested positive in the Rapid Analysis (rapid test) that was performed on him in the last hours in San José de Jáchal.
Following the Public Health procedure, he was then swabbed (PCR analysis) at the San Roque Hospital, the results of which would be available late today or tomorrow. The collaborator is in good health, does not present any symptoms of coronavirus and remains isolated at home.
As this worker was in Gualcamayo some days ago, and in a preventive way, it has been decided to activate the Covid 19 Protocol in the site, so those who were his close contacts were already detected and isolated in the corresponding sector. In total, there are 14 collaborators, who will remain in isolation until the results of the PCR are known.
The rapid test does not present conclusive results, that is, it is not a study that confirms the diagnosis. We have decided to activate the protocol only as a precautionary measure.
The medical service is making an evaluation of each of them and they will also be given rapid tests.
The company will continue to provide information on a regular basis so that everyone is aware of how the situation is evolving. Minas Argentinas has implemented in its Gualcamayo mine and in its administrative offices in San Juan and Jáchal all the biosafety measures ordered by the National and Provincial Governments, following the recommendations of the World Health Organization. The company will continue to work under the strictest health protocols while this pandemic lasts, prioritizing the health of its workers, their families, and the communities near the mine site.
