Glencore Pachón announced the winners of the «Let your project come to life» Competitive Funding Program, which provides funding for community development projects for intermediate institutions from Calingasta.
The Pachón took up the initiative again in 2020 to organize an annual contest to support the most innovative ideas in search of projects that improve the quality of life of the people of Calingasta. The program, which promotes the institutional strengthening of sports clubs and neighborhood unions, has the support and participation of the Municipality of Calingasta.
The total funds of the program amount to $1,750,000 and are destined to the realization of projects that generate the transference of knowledge and tools to communities with social vulnerability, through the promotion of the articulated work between public organisms, civil organizations and private entities of the department. The winning project receives sponsorship of up to $500,000, while the institution contributes 30% of the total project in kind or services.
In the 2020 edition, 10 projects were presented and evaluated according to their originality, creativity and viability by a jury made up of three representatives of the company and one from the Municipality, who were very satisfied with the excellent call for entries and the innovative ideas: «This program is eagerly awaited by the community, since it allows us to implement projects that directly benefit the institutions and the population as a whole,» said Jorge Sausset, Manager of Sustainable Development.
Among the proposals, it is evaluated that cover infrastructure or equipment needs, the promotion of recreational or cultural activities for the neighbors, micro enterprises that improve housing conditions, the stimulation of healthy habits and behaviors, the care of the environment and the dissemination of practices that encourage the reuse of resources.
In the four previous editions, nine institutions were favored -some on two occasions- with the implementation of 15 community projects. The institutions that won in previous editions are awarded a smaller prize than those that present projects for the first time, in order to give all of them the opportunity to participate for the biggest prize and to encourage the participation of new organizations.
